Shake4help Privacy Policy

This privacy policy has been compiled to better serve those who are concerned with how their 'Personally identifiable information' (PII) is being used, so please read our privacy policy carefully in addition to the privacy policies set by Google, to get a clear understanding of how we collect, use, protect or handle your Personally Identifiable Information in accordance with our Shake4help app.
The user has the responsibility to read very carefully the following privacy policy and accept the terms before using Shake4help.
What personal information do we collect from the people that visit our blog, website or app?

When registering on Shake4help, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your name, email address, device model or other details to help you with your experience.

When do we collect information?

We collect information from you when you register on our app or when the user press “save” in the shake4help app Settings.

How do we use your information?

We may use the information we collect from you when you register, or when you send any email notification from our app, in the following ways:

  • To send you some important information about shake4help app.
  • To contact you as customer support.
  • To be able to send automatic alerts to your emergency contacts from the app in order to let them know that you are using shake4help and you could be sending any emergency alert in the future.

How do we protect visitor information?

We do not use vulnerability scanning and/or scanning to PCI standards.
Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. In addition, all sensitive information you supply is encrypted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.

We implement a variety of security measures enters, submits, or accesses their information to maintain the safety of your personal information.

All shake4help alerts are triggered only from the shake4help app to the owner emergency contacts via email or SMS without passing to any of our shake4help servers(no backend process), so with this we are not processing or saving any alert info, tracking location or any sensitive info into our servers, because all this info is sent directly to the owner emergency contacts.

Why Shake4help request BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN permission?

As Shake4help is an app that helps you in any emergency situation, this includes when you lost your phone and you want to use the Shake4help features to locate your phone remotely or lock your phone remotely, via SMS with a secret pin that only the owner knows. (Shake4help requires the BIND_DEVICE_ADMIN permission to support the ‘lock-your-phone’ functionality  with a custom pin in order to block any attempt from a not allowed user external user to access to your personal information in your device.

We understand that this is a sensitive permission for any user, however this is the unique way to address a lock-your-phone with a new pin remotely, as benefit for the owner (in case he/she lost his/her phone) that’s why we are only using this permission to allow the user to access to this ‘lock-your-phone-remotly’ functionality in our paid version, and this option can be easily enable/disable directly from the shake4help app settings configuration page.
